About Me

So who am I?

My name is Nyssa, and no that isn’t short for anything. It’s not a family name, and don’t bother asking me about my background because  that wont give you any insight into the origins either. It’s just Nyssa (think “n-issa” – not neesa, never nessa, certainly not nisha).

It’s actually from the original Dr. Who. What can I say? My parent’s are sci-fi nerds, so there you go.

Moving on…

I’m heading towards the end of my 20’s at what feels light a breakneck speed. I’m Canadian and am currently residing in the wonderful city of Toronto, Ontario, and I work in the travel industry.

Obviously, I love to travel (who doesn’t). Unlike some who only claims to love to travel, I have always made it one of my first priorities in life and have managed to make my way around the globe several times now.  I never feel quite as alive at home as I do when I’m walking down a new path, in a new country, on a new adventure. I get itchy feet about every 6 months and try and make it to one or two new countries a year.  I’ve done the majority of my travelling solo, but typically not alone.

I also love photography. I feel those two often go hand in hand. I think  I have a pretty good eye for a shot but I’m still figuring things out.

Excited for this Kaikoura Crayfish!

Food is also a big part of my life. I love to eat and to try new things and like almost everything.  I honestly couldn’t tell you what my favourite food was or even style of cuisine, though tacos are quiet high on my list!

I’m an outdoor enthusiast.  If it gets me out into the woods you can be pretty certain I’ll be up for it – hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, scuba diving, rafting, yes please! I’m not a fan of winter (unfortunate, I know, being Canadian and all) so downhill skiing/snowboarding aren’t really my thing.

Oh and I love circus arts. My main hobby when I’m trapped in the confines of 9-5 life is honing my aerial skills on the static trapeze.

Here I am, trapezing away

So, there you have it folks: Nyssa
